Delray Beach Seeks Photos of Local Business Owners

City launches Faces of the Economy Campaign

DELRAY BEACH, Fla.—The Delray Beach Office of Economic Development (OED) has issued a call for submissions to Faces of the Economy, a new visual campaign designed to highlight citywide entrepreneurs and business owners. The campaign is part of the city’s effort to build a library of quality images that can be used in official media and publications, in the place of generic stock images.

“People are our community’s best asset, and that’s especially true for our business community,” said Joan K. Goodrich, the city’s economic development director. “The more we showcase the entrepreneurs and owners behind the businesses that power our economy, the better we can convey our City’s vibrancy and growing reputation as a regional center of jobs and commerce.”

Faces of the Economy was inspired by a similar initiative started by the city’s Downtown Development Authority in 2016. The DDA hired a professional photographer to capture merchants and business owners throughout its district, holding signs that showed their support of small business and the downtown area.

“The DDA has been a gracious partner, allowing the City to use their images. And while the photos have been a great addition to our marketing efforts, we recognize the importance of representing business owners and entrepreneurs citywide too,” Goodrich said.

The crowdsourced campaign will allow businesses from all areas of the city to contribute their own photos to the city’s image library. Accepted images may be used in a variety of traditional and digital platforms, such as city websites, reports, brochures, presentations and videos.

Digital photos may be submitted to the Office of Economic Development directly by sending an email to Elizabeth Burrows at burrows@mydelraybeach.com. Photos must be at least 3 inches by 3 inches in size, with a resolution of 150 dpi or greater. Acceptable formats include JPEG, PNG, PDF and TIFF files. All businesses located within the Delray Beach city limits may apply, including home-based and mobile companies. All photo submissions must prominently feature the face of at least one person associated with the company and must be accompanied by the photo image release form.
