DELRAY BEACH CRA AWARDS TWO BUSINESS GRANTS

Site Development and Business Development Assistance Grants

Awarded at June 22 Meeting

The Delray Beach Office of Economic Development (OED) is pleased to announce the award of two business grants by the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) to local businesses making investments in the community.

The Delray Oasis Business Park, a .75-acre campus located at the northeast corner of North Federal Highway and Bond Way in CRA sub-area #5, was awarded a Site Development Assistance Grant in an amount not to exceed $50,000. The property consists of five (5) free-standing buildings with a total of approximately 7,000 square feet of commercial space as well as shared parking, signage, courtyards and a gazebo. Site improvements totaling more than $327,000 will feature a new stucco finish for the building façades, the installation of mahogany window shutters, upgraded railings and new light fixtures, and the construction of new barrel tile mansard roof canopies and parapet walls. Additionally, the existing awnings will be removed and replaced with a new roof overhang.

“The property has already attracted several local creative professionals as tenants,” stated Howard Dean, new owner of Delray Oasis Business Park. “We hope to also attract professional service, office and retailer users who are seeking a charming and affordable space beyond the downtown core.”

The second business to obtain a CRA business grant is Living Word Christian Academy, a new nonprofit daycare center located at 601 NW 2nd Street in CRA sub-area #4 and the northwest neighborhood of The Set. The business founded in November 2016 offers weekday child care services to parents with young children ages birth through 5 years old. The CRA’s Business Development Assistance Grant will help reduce overhead rent expenses during the critical early stages of operation and as the business seeks to grow its clientele during the first year of operations.

Local businesses seeking to learn more about the CRA Business Grant programs are invited to attend an upcoming CRA Grants Workshop conducted each month on the second Monday, 3:00 p.m. at the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce. The next two CRA Grants workshops are scheduled on July 10 and August 14, 2017. For more information and to register for the workshop, call (561) 276-8640 or visit delraycra.org/how-to-apply/.
