On November 15, 2016, the City of Delray Beach City Commission proclaimed November 26, 2016 as Small Business Saturday, urging residents and visitors to support local small businesses and merchants on this day and throughout the year.
The City's Office of Economic Development, the Downtown Development Authority and the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to promote Small Business Saturday as a new holiday shopping tradition as well as showcase the value small businesses bring to our community - job creation, economic growth and unique neighborhood vibrancy.
“As 93% of businesses in Delray Beach are small businesses, the City is excited to add Small Business Saturday to its “We ♥ Small Biz” year-round campaign and to join our local partners as a Shop Small Neighborhood Champion dedicated to supporting, promoting and the growing national Shop Small movement,” stated Joan K. Goodrich, Economic Development Director.
Shoppers at the Delray Beach CRA’s GreenMarket can receive a complimentary Shop Small tote bag while supplies last. The Downtown Development Authority has developed a site, www.downtowndelraybeach.com/events/small-business-saturday complete with local downtown shopping promotions, event information, photos and more. Taking the lead in promoting Shop Small outside the downtown area, The Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce has created a local shoppers contest too.
Local Delray Beach small businesses are encouraged to register directly with American Express to fully leverage this national program (with in-store Shop Small signage, digital marketing assets and more).
